La Forte

We are continuously investing in the newest & latest technology

.... and our brand new ‘LaForte' printer is a water-based printing machine which produces outstanding quality print as well as being better for the environment. The machine was purchased on the condition that the manufacturer provide certification for their environmentally friendly water-based ink and this condition is another example as to how we in Horizon Digital Print are working with suppliers to ensure they too are becoming more sustainable. The LaForte has enabled us to be the first and only company in Ireland that can produce recycled 6-Sheets using water-based inks.

Green Guard Inks

At least 80% of our printing is done using Green Guard Inks

.... and we are constantly striving to increase this. Green Guard Ink is 100% ecofriendly, recyclable ink.

The GREENGUARD certification is granted to products that meet some of the world’s most rigorous chemical emissions standards, helping to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure.

Fleet

Our company sales fleet are 100% electric and we have installed fast charging points at our premises.

Waste

We have invested heavily in machinery to allow us to recycle most of our waste material. Because of our aggressive recycling program, our landfill waste material has dropped by 68%. Over the coming year we are focused on achieving zero waste to landfill.

Planting Trees

As part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint we have set up a tree planting initiative. We have committed to planting 70 indigenous Irish trees each year in the DSPCA’s 32-acre site on Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham in South Dublin. As well as helping to grow the woodland this will also foster biodiversity and natural habitats in the forest at the same time.

FSC ®

We have been FSC® certified since 2012 and all of our paper is FSC® mix certified which means this product is made of material from well-managed FSC® certified forests, recycled materials and controlled sources. Being certified means there’s a fully auditable trail from the forest, through the paper manufacturing process and to the final print we produce for you.

Material

At Horizon, we partner with our customers from the early design stage to create and develop a wide variety of sustainable print and packaging solutions, which are in many cases cost neutral. We actively source, test and market greener, more sustainable alternatives to our customers empowering them to make informed decisions on material choices. 

These materials come from 100% recycled content or other sustainable materials that are biodegradable or recyclable. Our supply of sustainable print and packaging options continues to grow and includes the following:

Paper based packaging which naturally biodegrades. Our poster paper, billboard paper, solid display boards, corrugated boards for boxes and FSDU’s are all made from FSC® certified material.

We hold gold standard Green Guard certified inks, greatly reducing emissions.

Our Pull Up Banners are 100% recyclable.

We offer PVC free options for stickers and decals.

We offer PVC free options for banners and building wraps.

We offer recyclable materials such as solid woods and MDF for instore displays.

LED Lighting

Along with using green energy, our premises are equipped with LED lighting – an eco-friendly alternative compared to traditional lighting. They offer high energy efficiency and save up to 70% energy output. They also have a longer life span, meaning lower carbon emissions and fewer bulb changes, resulting in less waste. Another advantage is that LED lights contain no toxic chemicals, such as mercury, making it a safe option for domestic and commercial use and for the ecosystem.

EcoVadis

EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 75,000 rated companies. It is a collaborative platform which allows companies to assess their environmental and social performance. Their mission is to provide the worlds most trusted sustainability ratings, enabling all businesses to reduce risk, drive performance and improve their environmental and social outcomes.
The EcoVadis assessment is set across four themes: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
The EcoVadis Silver Rating means that Horizon Digital Print scores in the top 25% globally of all companies in the fields of Corporate Social
Responsibility and Sustainability.

ISO14001:2015

We are certified and working to a set of environmental management standards called ISO14001:2015. This means that every year we are externally audited and our environmental impact is measured against international standard. They then provide us with a plan on how to improve for the next year.
This means we are always working towards reducing our impact on the environment. All our printing services, from design through to despatch, are covered by our ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management Standard.
